The very talented Caracas Leones cruised to a 10 to 4 victory over the Burbank
Tigers at Dolphins Stadium.
Caracas had 3 runs cross the plate in the 5th inning when they had 3 base
hits. After an out was recorded, Kevin Youkilis began the rally when he drew
a walk. Jorge Posada was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. David
Wright then lashed a single. Carlos Pena came up and he belted a three-run
homer (his 27th of the season). Caracas ended up with 13 hits for the game
while Burbank had 5.
The victory was credited to A.J. Burnett(7-3) who went 6 innings, allowing 4
runs. Burnett got help from Rafael Betancourt who earned his 9th save. Jon
Lester(3-2) suffered the loss. By surrending 5 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings his
ERA jumped from 4.03 to 4.81.
Caracas now has a record of a division leading 66-40. Burbank can't seem to
snap out of their recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 1-9 record over
the last couple weeks.
